Scott LaPlant
Scott LaPlant’s many personal and professional activities set him apart from his peers. Raised in Escanaba, Michigan, Scott LaPlant attended college in Wisconsin before relocating to Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
A change of scenery
In 2006, Scott LaPlant became a crucial member of the team at Dutchland, Inc., a full-service manufacturing and construction firm based in Gap, Pennsylvania. As IT Manager, Scott LaPlant was responsible for all I.T related functions and he was involved in several effective initiatives improving Dutchland, Inc.’s I.T. and telecommunications infrastructure. Scott LaPlant was committed to meeting corporate goals, increasing productivity and decreasing costs and was selected twice as Dutchland, Inc.’s Employee of the Month (Cultural Principals Award). Scott LaPlant left Dutchland, Inc. in October of 2009 to pursue another opportunity.
All work and no play…
Outside of his work with his current employer, Scott LaPlant specializes in Linux operating systems and is a member of the Central Pennsylvania Linux User Group. Scott LaPlant’s other technical interests include various emerging technologies, particularly in systems security, and he keeps a blog right here at scottlaplant.com.
A helping hand
To help his neighbors in need in Elizabethtown, Scott LaPlant supports Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Special Olympics, and the Milagro House in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In his leisure time, Scott LaPlant likes to fish, scuba dive, bike, and cross country ski. Scott LaPlant is also a fan of jazz music and the work of John Grisham and Robert Fulghum.
